Nothing clever, witty or funny about this week's title.
My Dad had his scheduled heart surgery on Wednesday.
They tried to repair the valve but were unable, so they had to replace it.
The surgery itself was generally ok.
Unfortunately, he did have some internal bleeding that required another surgery on Thursday.
Since the first surgery, his oxygen levels are staying lower than they should be and his lungs just aren't taking back over like they should.
It's not unheard of, but still far from ideal.
He is totally on respiratory support.
His heart and brain seem to be working, and his lungs are inhaling and exhaling.
But, inside the lungs the oxygen isn't exchanging like it should.
There are no medications or treatments to fix lung tissue, only giving his body time to try to heal itself.
He made a little progress on Saturday, but had a little hiccup overnight and undid a little of that.
He still has a long way to go even in a best case scenario, so there's nothing we can do but wait.
Whether you are praying, sending positive vibes, or whatever, we do appreciate it and ask that you keep it up until I give the "all clear" signal.
But since you don't come here to be depressed, here are some shots from the week of one of the main reasons my Dad has to fight to live. (and I am shameless enough to admit that I can't type that without tearing up.)
Playing the Rock Band drums
and having breakfast with George and Dumpty.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Praying for his fast recovery.
Know that we are thinking and praying for your Dad- I've got the CHS angels (elem. kids) heavy on the prayers as well as the Carmalite Monastary. Keep the faith -
